This is in the context where like other industries, the generic drugs sector, which manufactures 7 in 10 medicines prescribed in Europe, is facing unprecedented cost pressures caused by inflation, supply chain disruption and war. But unlike other industries, current pricing systems across Europe don’t allow affordable medicines to absorb the higher costs.
